Sky Poker Summary

Sky Poker is one of the lesser known poker rooms on the internet, but it is definitely not to be dismissed. Being backed by the huge “sky” media brand and having it’s own TV channel has helped the sky poker room evolve from a unknown site in to a small-medium sized poker room in a very short period. The cash games tend to be were most of the action is, although sit and go tournaments do start, but you may wait a while for these to begin, especially if you play larger buy-in tournaments. Cash games start with blinds as small as £0.01/£0.02 and run up to £1.50/£3.00. Multi Table Tournaments run throughout the day although the larger tournaments with the most entrants, and larger prizepools, start on weekends and in the evening between 6PM and 9PM (GMT).

Sky Poker Games

Sky Poker offers cash games, sit and go tournaments and multi table tournaments around the clock. Thanks to Sky Poker being a  very UK orientated brand the cash games and tournaments start mainly after working hours – after 6PM until around 1AM and at all hours during peak hours. You will also be happy to know that the bigger tournaments start at sensible hours, if you have played in any big tournaments at US friendly sites you will know that they usually start in the early hours of the morning to accommodate for the much larger US market. UK based players will also be happy to know that the currency of choice at Sky Poker is £ (pound sterling) which is much better, as you won’t lose out from costly conversion rate changes. Cash games start at £0.05/£0.10 blinds and played up to £10/20 although most of the action is below £2/£4. The cash games are by far the easiest to beat online. Adopting a basic TAG (Tight And Agressive) strategy will almost certainly result in profit from almost every session, thanks to the very loose calling station type players you will encounter.

Sky Poker Traffic

Traffic at Sky Poker is growing all the time. Most of the time you will find cash games running through from the lowest stakes up to stakes around the £1/£2 limit. During the week in the day their aren’t many games running although at most limits their are 2/3 tables open with seats open. At night traffic increases four fold and you will be able to find many tables open. Sit and Go traffic isn’t great at Sky Poker. During the day you will be waiting around for games to fill up and start, as with cash games these fill up quicker at night but still aren’t all the quick. Multi Table tournaments aren’t that popular at Sky Poker yet although they are growing in size Week on Week. Sadly as a relatively small site their isn’t yet a tournament where you can win “life changing” amounts of money, like at PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker or Bet365. Although it shouldn’t be long before one is added!
