Big 3 Card Poker Payouts Exist
If you play 3 card poker then you certainly know that there is a range of payouts where a player can win from 1:1 up to 50:1 or even better! You’ll find by going to a 3cardpoker site that often payouts vary from casino to casino. This popular table game can really pay off in a major manner. And although it offers some pretty good odds on basic play, one bettor in Atlantic City recently found out how massive a payout can be when incorporated with a side bet.
A Bit Complex
The thing to realize is that although the game of 3 card poker is fairly basic that payouts can be confusing. They’re so confusing that when Richard N. Wood of Newport News Va, won $100,000 on November 24, 2011 at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City for a few minutes he was not sure what had happened.
When Wood, who was playing the popular table game on Black Friday, was told that his royal flush paired with the dealer’s hand had resulted in a $100,000 payoff he said later, “When they told me I almost had a heart attack. It’s a day I’ll never forget.”
Understanding Payouts
Payouts in 3 card poker are dependent on three factors. Initially, a player wins a 1:1 bet on their ante when they beat the dealer. However, the dealer’s hand must quality for the player’s wager to pay. Otherwise, it is simply a push and they get their bet back.
A player can also win extra cash on their basic bet when they hit certain hands. In essence, this is an automatic bonus for getting a good hand. As an example, a flush may pay 4:1 and a straight 6:1.
The third element is not based on the player’s ante bet but instead on a side wager. In 3 card poker it’s called the Pairs Plus Bet and this is the aspect of the game that can get quite confusing. Rules and winnings for 3 card poker vary a lot from casino to casino with this side bet.
Many of these side bets pay 1:1, but there are those that offer much higher odds and some are so large they simply give the winner a large flat sum of cash that is not based on how much that’s been bet. Of course, they are hard to hit but the fact is Wood did manage to take down a big payout.
How He Won
Wood won his big prize with a hand that included his and the dealers. The biggest payout at Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City is for a six-card super diamond flush to the nine. That is worth $1 million. A player won that in October. Payouts are partly determined by the suit the player gets. Wood’s Pairs Plus Bet, which was $20, was won by his combining his cards with the dealer’s to create a royal flush in hearts.
When the 72-year-old Wood was asked if he’d be using some of his winnings to buy Christmas presents on Black Friday, which in the U.S. is the name for the day after Thanksgiving that is a major Christmas shopping day, he replied, “I think I’ll leave the shopping to my wife.”
Shop Around
Although the payout above occurred at a land-based casino, players who want to place Pairs Plus Bets online should shop around from site to site since payouts really do vary and some casinos will have special promotions. Any time a player places a side bet, they should be aware that those Pairs Plus Bets that provide big money are extremely difficult to win. Still, 3 card poker can and does payout in a major way for some lucky players.
