European Poker Tour

The European Poker Tour (EPT) kicked of it’s fifth season in Barcelona in September. The “Tour” travels around eleven of Europe’s most historic City’s including; Prague, San Remo, Monte Carlo and London. The buy in ranges dramatically from event to event although players can expect to pay between $7,000 and $16,000 to participate in a EPT event. Prizepools for EPT events range significantly although it is rare to find less than seven million dollars in the pool, and with each season the size seems to keep growing! Although there is often participation limits imposed on events which means that the prizepool for the majority of events is limited. The exception to this is the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure which has no limit on the amount of entrants.

EPT Satellites

The only poker site which runs EPT satellites is PokerStars.Com. Last season (season 4) saw PokerStars send 1600 online players to European poker tour events! This year I’m sure PokerStars will be sending more players to EPT events then ever before.

PokerStars EPT Steps

PokerStars runs “step” tournaments for EPT events during the season(September-May). Players can start at the bottom step for $7.50 and work their way to the final sixth step. Alternatively players can start at a higher step, which will command a pricier buyin but in return they will be closer to the elusive final step. Players can even choose to start at the sixth final step which will cost $2,100 to enter.

These step tournaments start at all hours, with over 90,000 players connected to PokerStars at peak times you will always find satellites starting at PokerStars.
