Betfair have just announced the 3rd year of the now annual, Betfair Portugese Poker Tour! The tournament is set to start on the 6th November and run for three days until the 9th November. Casino Espinho is the venue, for the tournament.

This tournament is certainly one of the most playable events, with huge starting stacks of 15,000 chips and one hour blinds! Which means players will have bring their poker brains with them to be in with a chance of winnings this tournament!

Starting today Betfair are running online satellites, which means online players will be able to qualify for this excellent live event. There are different packages up for grabs with the satellites so make sure you read the tournament information provided, as some satellites offer “seat only” packages whilst others provide players with $2,000 for additional expenses (flight, accomodation etc.)

The WCOOP main event kicked off yesterday, with the entry cost at $5,200 and 2,185 entrants, once again PokerStars had far exceeded the guaranteed $10,000,000 up for grabs and the final prizepool stood at just under $11 million. Update : WCOOP Main Event comes to a close, the winner is Ckingusc for a nice $1,775,312.50! Second place was liberace for $1,311,000 and the third place finisher was AJKHoosier1 who was rewarded with $941,735,000.

PKR Terminator Bounty Tournaments

PKR is one of the poker market leaders in terms of creative thinking. Recently they launched their “bounty terminator” tournaments. Running each Wednesday at 19:00 GMT you have the chance to win some very nice rewards for knocking the “bountied” players out of the popular tournament.

How Do Bounty Terminator Tournaments Work?

PKR Oktoberfest Returns

The 17th October marks the return of “Oktoberfest“, PKR’s very own poker tournament festival. With a prizepool, double the size of last years inaugural event, Oktoberfest is expected to attract more players then ever with some mouth watering guaranteed prize pools.

David Cain Breaks World Record

In an update from the previous post, where information regarding the world record attempt was scarce, we can now confirm the record was well and truly beaten! The original record held was for playing heads up poker continuously for 72 hours, the record now stands at “around 74 hours” according to David.

With fears of David’s health looming, he decided he should pull out shortly after breaking the world record. The following are quotes taken from his site.

“During Wednesday afternoon I had something of a mental breakdown, it was extremely scary for me and even worse for friends and family who witnessed it.”

“I even had to be taught how to play poker-Literally everything from scratch. I complained that the blinds were not necessary and that there should be a flexible amount of community cards and that the game was too linear so should be played in a circle. Following that I felt like I was in a cage being taunted tortured and punished for a crime I didn’t commit.”

Congrats to David and his team for all of their hard work which paid off and resulted in an excellent world record being broken! We would also like to wish David “Alfa” Cain all the best in the future!

David Cain Poker World Record

Poker Player David Cain is attempting to break the world record for the longest consecutive period of playing heads up No Limit holdem.

This true task of endurance is being attempted by “David Cain”, a British Poker player who aims to smash the current world record of 72 hours by trying to continue this tiring task for 100 hours! The record attempt started on the 14th September and should be completed on the 18th September he event took place at the Lincoln University, UK.

The current record has stood since 2004, and is held by Larry Olmsted who is from America.

David will be playing for real money against a series of players some of whom have placed bids to take part a game against him.
